Obituary of Robert A. Kordish

Robert A. Kordish died Monday, May 5, 2025 at his home in Hilton, New York, surrounded by all his family. "Bob" was born October 13, 1933 in Olean, New York to Robert and Sophia Mohar Kordish.

He graduated from Portville Central High School in 1951, where he played football, basketball, and baseball, as well as playing trombone in the marching band. He attended Colgate University on a basketball scholarship, where he majored in mathematics. He graduated in 1955.

Bob and Carol Kordish were married at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, New York on August 25, 1956. They lived briefly in Baltimore, MD then moved to Hilton, so Bob could take a job at Eastman Kodak Company. Bob worked at Kodak until 1991, starting out in production planning and finishing in Human Resources. Bob worked at Digital Corporation for 5 years after that.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Miller Kordish; and his three children, Rebecca Kordish Jordan, Rob Kordish (Sonya Sekulic), and Mike Kordish. He thoroughly enjoyed his three grandsons, Nathan, Nick, and Coleman Laguzza, and was a loving grandpa to them. He was so very proud of the men they grew to be. His granddaughter, Maeve “Sweetie” Kordish, was a huge source of joy in his old age.  Bob loved her dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Kordish, and many Kordish and Miller nephews and nieces.  Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by a brother, Richard Kordish; two sisters, Mary Probert and Betty Sebourn; and a niece, Christine Sebourn.

There will be a Memorial Service at the time of the interment of ashes at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville, NY. A reception and luncheon will be held afterwards at Bethel Lutheran Church in Portville. The date has not yet been set.
