Hamlin - Diana May Wheeler, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully left this world on September 9, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on October 24, 1947, in Rochester, NY, Diana brought warmth and love into the lives of everyone she held close. Her life was woven with compassion, creativity, and devotion.
Diana is now at peace with her husband, Laurence (Butch) J. Wheeler, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick E. and Arline Royce; and her niece, Tacy Royce.
She is survived by her devoted brother, Frederick K. Royce; and her three daughters, Kerri Lynn Wheeler, Kimberly A. Wheeler, and Kristen L. Sine (Terry). Diana's legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Zackary, Elizabeth, Ashley, Jacek, and Aidan, along with the joy of her great-grandchild, Alessa Sine. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in celebrating their lives and milestones.
Throughout her life, Diana had a range of jobs, but her most fulfilling role was that of a caregiver. In her earlier years, she dedicated herself to elder care, demonstrating her compassion and patience. Later, she discovered her true calling as a loving nanny for the Cohen family, where she embraced every moment with joy and dedication.
Diana was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a natural green thumb, nurturing and growing numerous house plants and transforming her outdoor spaces into beautiful flower gardens and planters. Her cherished home, which she shared with Butch and her daughters on County Line Road, was a testament to her creativity, as she dedicated 35 years to renovating and decorating each room, capturing the essence of the seasons and the spirit of every holiday.
Her love for literature was evident in her avid reading, and she enjoyed the mental challenge of crossword puzzles and Scrabble, often relishing in the delight of outsmarting her opponents. Diana's hobbies also extended to her love for animals, from her colorful parakeets and playful rabbits to her cherished dogs, Max, Mindy, and Colby (to name a few), whom she showered with affection and often overindulged with treats.
Diana May Wheeler will be remembered for her loving spirit and her vibrant home filled with laughter and life. We celebrate the love she shared and the legacy she leaves behind in the hearts of her family.
A private Memorial Service will be held to honor her life. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association Rochester and Finger Lakes Region Chapter, 200 Meridian Centre Blvd., Rochester, Ny 14618 in Diana's memory.
