Obituary of Daniel Bauer

Hilton – Daniel “Dan” Bauer passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on November 14, 2025, at the age of 74.

He is survived by Elodie VerHulst and Lara Barco, whom he cherished as daughters; his beloved dog, Hamish; and many dear friends who were truly his family, including Fred Ryan, Bruno Glavich, Brooke Whitney, Kerry Sylvester, Alyse Bedford, Brett Whitney, Ron Whitney, Bernard McDavid, Sam Palumbo, Kenny & Terry Podgers, Matt Petrillo, and many more.

As a young man, Dan worked as an aide in group homes and workshops. During that time, he planned a memorable trip for the individuals he supported, taking them to Hershey, Pennsylvania, and to Washington, D.C., where they visited the national monuments—an experience they treasured and spoke of often.

Dan built an extensive and well-loved career as an auctioneer, a profession to which he dedicated decades of his life. His work connected him to countless people and stories, and he took great pride in matching treasured objects with those who would appreciate them most.

A lifelong collector, Dan had a particular passion for antique toys, often delighting friends with the history and craftsmanship behind each piece. He was also a devoted Corvette enthusiast. His enthusiasm—for cars, collectibles, and life’s small pleasures—was infectious.

Dan will be remembered for his generosity, his passion for projects great and small, and his deep love of animals and music.
