Obituary of William A. Wood

Gates - William A. (Woody) Wood passed away peacefully March 14, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born on July 30, 1932 in Ridgeway, NY to Mildred (Dunn) and William J. Wood.  He is predeceased by his wife, Laurita (Helfer); his brothers, Wilbur, Leonard and Gerard; and his sisters, Mildred, Doris, June and Kathleen.  He is survived by his companion, Joann Schlieter; his brother, Wayne (Sharon) Wood; his sister, Armetia Martindale; his children, Glenn (Kathryn) Wood, Laurie (Bernie) Erbland, and Linda (David) Reagan; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Audrey (Jeremy), Liam, and Zach Toeper; James (Kelli), Caleb and Brynn Erbland; Rebecca (Anthony), Ella, and Cameron Cucit; and Lisa (Brent), Joziah, Edyn, and Jael Roberts.

Woody served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired after 39 years from Frontier Communications as a project engineer. After retiring he volunteered, installing home health units for Unity Hospital.  In his leisure, he enjoyed volunteering at the LPGA, golfing, bowling, traveling to Ireland, Alaska and the Bahamas, going out to dinner, and going to breakfast with his brother. He will be deeply missed.
