Obituary of Linda M. Granby

Hamlin - Linda M. Granby passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Marion Torrey; and her husband, David "Bill" Granby, Sr. (2016).

She is survived by her children, Stephen (Heidi) Granby, David (Kelley) Granby and Michelle (Mike) Beechey; her adored grandchildren Zachary & Abigail Granby, Brandon, Corey & Noah Granby, and Alexander, Madelyn & Nicholas Beechey; her brother, Gary (Mary Jo) Torrey; and nieces and nephew. She also leaves behind cherished lifelong friends who were like sisters to her - Peggy Wilson, Bonnie Popiwny, and Sheila Reis.

Linda's family was the center of her life, and she was a wonderful mom, grandmother, and homemaker. Each year she loved to decorate for holidays, making Christmas a very special event for everyone in the family with games, raffles and the dreaded "Christmas Quiz". She enjoyed gardening and cooking as well as collecting knickknacks, and spending time with her cats. Linda and Bill spent weeks of vacation time on the road with their camper, sight-seeing and camping; making memorable family trips to national sites like Nova Scotia, Texas, Florida, Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, the Great Smoky Mountains, and many other places across the country. Linda spent many hours expertly planning the navigation and stops for all of the trips (pre-internet!).

She was a devout Christian, longtime member of St. Leo’s Women's Club, Red Hatters, and Hamlin Seniors Group; she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  After many years of chronic illness and pain, her body and spirit are now at peace with her Lord and Savior.

Linda’s family would also like to express their thanks for the special care she received the past couple of months at Unity, McCormick Transitional Care Center, and especially at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 10:00am at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hamlin. A gathering will immediately follow the Mass in the church reception hall.
