Obituary of James E. Bimmler
James E. Bimmler “Bims” passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 77. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Alice Bimmler.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Charlotte; his daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Lissow and Tobie (Luke) Bailey; his cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Madelyn, Mia, and Camryn; his sister, Nancy McBride; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
Jim worked for 35 years as a Chemist at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. Knowing that he couldn’t sit still for very long, Jim took a position with the Hilton Central School District as a bus driver for 10 years following his retirement from Kodak.
He was life member of the Hilton Volunteer Fire Department, where for many years the community enjoyed his familiar voice announcing the Hilton Fireman’s parade, and annual holiday raffle. Throughout his time with the Hilton Fire Department, he served as President and Commissioner. Jim also served as President of the Monroe County Fire District Officers Association. He was also an integral part of the Village of Hilton in which he resided, where he served on the Village Zoning Board and Village Board.
Jim was an avid sports fan; for years you could find him spending his weekends at the racetrack watching stockcars, and Sundays were for football, always rooting for his beloved Buffalo Bills!
He enjoyed, spending time with his family, grilling in his backyard with a cold beer and watching his granddaughters play soccer. Jim had a huge impact on anyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by his community and especially by his beloved family and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held for Jim on Saturday, October 28th at the Hilton Exempt Club, 137 South Avenue in Hilton, starting at 1:00 PM. A Celebration of his Life will follow the service at the Exempt Club.
