Obituary of Verna Lucy Bona
Verna L. Bona, born on April 1, 1923, in Rochester, NY, peacefully left this world on December 1, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of Vincenzo and Rosa Maria Barile. Verna was one of four daughters, surrounded by the love of her sisters, Rose and Eleanor, who have already departed, and her surviving sister, Maria, currently residing in Florida.
At the tender age of 18, Verna embarked on a lifelong journey of love and commitment when she married the love of her life, Sam Bona. Together, they created a family filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments. Verna and Sam were blessed with four wonderful children, Marie (Ron) Tippets, Jeanne (Gary) Fontana, Joe (Gricelle) Bona, and Carole (Ron) Cassell each a testament to the love that defined their union. Grandchildren are Erin Druez, Alexis (Mark)Lowe, Samantha (Zach) Pulver, Gabrielle (Marin) Poulle, Ryan Cassell, and John (Annamaria) Fontana; and 7 great grandchildren.
Verna was a dedicated wife and mother, pouring her heart into creating a nurturing and supportive home for her family. Her warmth and kindness extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of friends and neighbors alike. Verna's legacy is one of love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family.
Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. In times of joy and sorrow, Verna's spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember Verna for the love she gave, the joy she shared, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who were touched by her presence. May she find eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.
A Rosary/Prayer service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm at St. Juliana Falconieri Catholic Church, 1316 N. Acacia Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92831.
Verna's Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, 110 Old Hojack Lane, Hilton, NY 14468 and her burial will take place immediately after the Mass at Parma Union Cemetery, 260 Parma Center Road, Hilton, NY 14468.
