Obituary of John Enright Hobson

John Enright "Jack" Hobson, born on March 28, 1951, in Geneva, NY passed peacefully at home on December 10, 2024 with his daughter, Melanie, at his side.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Jane Hobson; and his brothers-in-law, Scott Gallipeau and Keith Nichol. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer (Russ) Conjerti and Melanie Kelsey; his brother, William (Stacy) Hobson; his sisters, Beth Nichol and Judy (Fred) Paye; his grandchildren, Samantha Kelsey, Jacob Kelsey, and Anna Conjerti; his two great-granddaughters, Ashlynn and Alaina; his nieces, nephews, and their children; as well as his lifelong childhood friend, Craig Mattice; and close friend, David "Crockett" Carlson.

Jack was truly a “Jack of all trades.” From his early days at Kodak, to the proud owner of Enright Collision, careers in masonry and construction, and his work with the Monroe County Water Authority and Department of Transportation, he took pride in his work. Jack was also a talented (unassuming) artist and known as the life of the party. His sense of humor brought joy to many and will forever be remembered.

Two of Jack’s passions in life were cars and hunting. Many great years were spent hunting in the Southern Tier. He enjoyed the time with the Ingham, Romeis, and Jackling crew at the hunting camp, and his family enjoyed hearing stories of big bucks that got away and various shenanigans experienced with the hunting crew. Jack’s love of cars began with mechanical repairs and grew to full body collision work, antique car restoration, memberships in numerous antique and classic car organizations, the purchase of many antique cars, and a love for Nascar. Jack proudly served in the United States Army as a military policeman.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 4 - 7 pm at the Thomas E.
